INHERENT DIGNITY
Wherever there is a working brain there is consciousness, and wherever there is consciousness there is a person (a subject of a life).
And because of the solitary and personal nature of conscious experience, it demands equal respect.
The question is, how can this be carried out, and what is it that is practicable?
And so it's a question of practicability, although impracticability does not absolve one from guilt, or violations of respect.
The goal is to end all unnecessary harm.

INHERENT DIGNITY
It is decided that the reason humans matter is because they have Inherent Dignity (an inherent state of being worthy of respect).
And so, what is necessary for inherent dignity? Is it love of life? Or the desire to live?
Many think it’s wrong to end one’s own life. Why is that? Is it because they believe life is still worthy of respect, even when it is unpleasant?
If this is the case, and the desire to live is not believed sufficient, what then makes one worthy of respect? Is it the capacity to experience, at all? Yes, that is the basis/reason for such a state of worthiness, which is inherent dignity.
If this is the basis for mattering, who else has this basis for dignity (the capacity to experience}? The answer is, all other animals of which we know has this ability, meaning all that are sentient.
This means, just as we respect the life of another human, we should respect the life of any other sentient animal. Not limited to “our” dog or cat, but cows, pigs and chickens too.
To respect the life of another animal you must dispel all animal derivatives from your formerly assumed consumables pantry, and retain a non-contaminated plant-based diet. Because now you recognize that nonhuman animals are not to be consumed as "food", because they are your own kin.
